Fine Art by Claudia Doherty
Claudia Doherty is a New England–based painter whose work explores the tension between beauty and bleakness through moody, earthy palettes and richly layered surfaces. Working primarily in oils and acrylics, she builds texture through scraping and layering, allowing figures and landscapes to emerge with quiet depth and emotional ambiguity.
Born in Boston and raised in New England, Claudia earned a BA in Economics from the University of New Hampshire before beginning a career in financial services. After the birth of her three children, she returned to painting and now works from her studio in Newton, Massachusetts.
Her work has been featured in numerous juried exhibitions, including the Copley Society of Art, Cambridge Art Association, and the Cape Cod Museum of Art. Most recently, her work was selected for the Museum’s annual International Exhibition from over 700 submissions. She is represented by Galatea Fine Art in Boston, and her work is held in private collections internationally.
