Bio

 

Claudia Doherty is a New England–based painter whose work explores the tension between beauty and bleakness through moody, earthy palettes and richly layered surfaces. Working primarily in acrylic, she builds texture through scraping and layering, allowing figures and landscapes to emerge with quiet depth and emotional ambiguity.

 

Born in Boston and raised in New England, Claudia earned a BA in Economics from the University of New Hampshire before beginning a career in financial services. After raising her three children, she returned to painting and now works from her studio in Newton, Massachusetts.

 

Her work has been exhibited in juried exhibitions and galleries throughout New England, including the Cambridge Art Association, Cape Cod Museum of Art, Danforth Art Museum, Falmouth Art Center, and Galatea Fine Art. She is represented by Galatea Fine Art in Boston, and her work is held in private collections internationally.
